Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Dual Shock 4

Here it is.  The next generation in console gaming control.  Sony announced their next generation console, The Play Station 4  today, and I thought I would share  a little bit of the info on this sexy gaming peripheral.
Integrated 2 point touch pad, built in PS Move style motion control, advanced force feed back, integrated social media sharing.
HOT.
Right now all I know is that the console will be released for the 2013 Holiday season.  I have yet to see any screen shots or video actual game play with this bad boy in use, but I am certain that they will be making the rounds on the internet shortly.
I know what I want under my Christmas Tree.

Kevin Smith on The Walking Dead Part 2

As promised, I wanted to jot down my two cents about Kevin Smith's appearance on Talking Dead this week, and his thoughts on episode 9 of Season 3 of The Walking Dead.
I always appreciate Kevin's unique brand of humour, and colourful commentary.  Hearing that he has nicknames for all of the regular Walking Dead characters, like calling Carl "Wyatt Twerp" really made my day.
As a Director, Kevin also had some interesting insight about the way the makers of The Walking Dead really ratchet up the conflict, while maintaining  a naturalistic humanist approach to their subject matter.
On the flip side, Steven Yeun was very Glenn-centric in all of his answers, which I understand, and Glenn is a favourite character of mine...but sometimes I am looking for some more generalized info as opposed to having the guest star answer every question with: Well Glenn has really been through a lot lately and that leads him to be motivated to react like this in regards to that stimulus.  I totally get that he is under a big gag clause not to reveal any information about un-aired episodes, but it felt a little insight into the filming process or interactions with other cast members would have been appreciated.
Finally, I really dig the new One hour format for the show, and all of the extra interactions that it allows.  I hope they keep it.

Kevin Smith on The Walking Dead!

With the glorious return of the second half of season 3 of The Walking Dead Tonight, it is important to remember that The Talking Dead is back too!
And this week two amazing guests will be chatting about all things zombie.
The first guest is Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on Walking Dead, everyone favourite kick ass pizza delivery boy.
The second guest is none other than actor, writer, director, producer,  Kevin Smith.  Smith's show Comic Book Men is also produced by AMC, and I have seen promo spots with him talking about how a series like The Walking Dead is a childhood dream come true. Smith has some wicked funny insights, and I can't wait to hear what he has to say about tonight's episode.
Tonight is also The Talking Dead's first one hour episode, a new format that I think will be great!
I'll be sure to post my thoughts after the episode has aired tonight.
Can't wait!

Adventures In Beer Pong!

Okay. I have an admission to make. I am 33 years old, going on 34, and I have never played Beer Pong, at least, I had never played beer pong, until tonight. I have heard of the game, and I have seen it played for stakes in Las Vegas, but I figured it was something that the younger generation had adopted as their own, and I had little interest in. All that changed tonight at my cousin Kam's 34 Birthday Party. My 16 year old cousin introduced me to the game, and 5 of us played all night. We played doubles, with a swing, and had a riot!
 Some entertaining observations -
#1: A lot of beer was consumed.
#2 The birthday boy and I kicked some serious ass (We won 5/5 games when playing together).
#3. Grown men will dive across a table to recover an errant ping pong ball.
#4 My friends and family are not above putting their junk on the table to disrupt a shot. True story.
#5 Guys can get competitive about damn near anything, up to, and including bouncing ping pong balls into red solo cups filled with beer.

I honestly don't remember the last time I had this much fun,

So, for the uninitiated, I give you the rules of Beer Pong (as played at the Turner Residence, apparently everyone plays differently and has their own variant rules).
#1 Fill 10 (20 total)cups with beer and arrange them in a standard triangle formation at each end of a ping pong table.
# 2 Teams take turns lobbing 2 ping pong balls in an attempt to get them into the other teams beer cups. When playing Doubles, each partner throws one ball.
#3 Balls That are lobbed may not be interfered with.
#4 A lobbed ball that lands in a beer cup results in the defending team needing to drain that beer cup and remove it from the formation. But if the first player on the offending team hits a cup, the ball is removed but the cup stays in position until after the second player throws. If the second player player hits the exact same cup, that cup and two others, chosen by the offending team must be drained and removed from the formation.
#5 A player may choose to attempt to bounce a ball into a cup as opposed to lobbing it, but if a ball bounces first, the defending team may attempt to block it. A bounced ball that lands in a cup is worth 2 cups.
#6 If both offensive players sink their ping pong balls in the same round, they each get a second shot to continue.
#7 If an errant ping pong ball is not collected by the defending team, and the offending team is able to re-acquire it, they get the chance to take a free "trick shot".
#8 Trick shots can not be interfered with, and could be anything as simple as a left handed shot, or as elaborate as the shooter desires.
#9 If at any time the offending team is able to sink a ping pong ball in a drink that the opposing team is consuming, it is game over.

While I don't think I'll ever become a beer pong expert, it was certainly a fun night.
